I had to get a will in place for a friend urgently who was in hospital, I phoned Simon's number on a Saturday morning expecting to get an answer phone but Simon answered personally. I explained the situation to him expecting him to say 'I will see you on Monday morning', however he said to make an appointment with the hospital for that afternoon and I will meet you there at 4pm. This was duly done and he took details from my friend in a quiet, calm, and sensitive manner. I was then expecting him to say that he will have it ready by the following week but on the Sunday morning he rang to say to make an appointment to go into the hospital that afternoon for final instruction. Then he phoned again and asked to make an appointment with the hospital on Monday in order for the will to be signed. Simon recently made the trip up to Taunton to see myself and Laura as we had never put any provision in place or our wills. As unmarried parents to a disabled child who also are joint directors in a company, this is something we knew needed to be sorted and we had heard nothing but good things about Simon's friendly and professional approach. Simon and Linda walked us through the process in a friendly manner, covering the key elements in a simple and understandable manner. There was no awkwardness around the more personal elements discussed and it was clear that Simon is both knowledgeable and experienced, something which puts you greatly at ease given the important nature of what is being discussed. The unexpected element of the whole experience was the level of relief we both felt after the meeting. Although preparing our affairs is something that had been in the back of our minds for a while, until we went through the process we didn't appreciate just how much of a weight had been lifted off our shoulders. Caring and detailed The thought of death and the impact it has on our loved ones is not something that is easily discussed. My wife, in particular, refuses to engage in these discussions and does not like to even think about it (out of sight out of mind). I understand from Simon that this is quite common and is one of the reasons why so many people do not have a will. He clearly explained the various options available and quickly identified the most appropriate solution for me so that I could present it to my wife. As expected, her reaction was to put it off though Simon’s friendly approach made the process easy and his manner of questioning made it an enjoyable experience for both of us. When I compare the quality of his work with the quality of the will we previously had written by a solicitor I have never been so impressed. I would highly recommend Maplebrook Wills and in particular, Simon Hall whose caring and detailed approach made this easy.
